Surface hair smoothing system featured in Launchpad magazine available at Reflections of You Fairfax

Ten Most Common Smooth & Healthy Questions:
1. How Do I Do A Retouch?
‐ Retouch for Smoothing and Curl Reduction follow original directions, with Smoothing Cream being applied first
to new growth, processed as desired then combed through ends to smooth reversion as desired. In Smoothing, press
new growth as above, limited pressing maybe used on previously treated area. Smoothing Bath may be applied as in
original application.
2. How long does it last and take to do?
Lasts: In salon average application:
A. Smoothing ‐ 3 to 5 months ‐ 3 hours
B. Curl Reduction ‐ 2 to 4 months ‐ 90 minutes
C. Smoothing Bath ‐ 6 to 8 weeks ‐ 20 minutes
3. What Type of Hair Can I Use It On?
‐ Not recommended for fine hair lifted beyond two levels or hair that has been treated with color remover.
‐ May be used on all qualifying hair textures.
‐ Evaluate hair condition to determine if the hair qualifies and desired result is achievable:
‐ Smoothing and Curl Reduction may be performed on hair that is up to 25% highlighted*
and is in good condition. Percentage of highlights and condition applies to individual sections of
hair. Example ‘back to back’ foils would be a section regarded as over 25% highlighted.
‐ Smoothing Bath* ‐ may be used on hair up to 50% highlighted provided it is in good condition.
‐ Varied conditions throughout the head may require different methods of application. Example a
Complete Smoothing application may require a ‘Smoothing Bath’ on specifically damaged areas.
* For added condition apply Trinity One Shot prior to each application of Protein Cream
4. Can I use it over other relaxers or treatments? ‐ Yes . Be sure to evaluate and qualify the hair’s condition ‘under’ the
existing treatment. Ask questions as to what previous chemical services the quest may have had based upon the length
of their hair. Example – the ends of hair that is 6” long would be about a year old, the ends of hair 24” long may be 2
years old. What has happened to those ends and does the condition qualify.
5. How long do I have to wait before I shampoo? ‐ 48 hrs
6. Can I Color of Highlight Afterwards?
‐ For best color results book 48 hours after service.
‐ Demi or semi permanent color may be applied following rinsing of Locking Lotion.
‐ Add ¼ oz of One Shot to color process.

7. How Smooth & Healthy Differs From Brazilian Type Keratin Treatments and Traditional Relaxers?
The Science of the Smooth & Healthy Treatment is Completely Different. See #9 below.
Smooth & Healthy is a healthy personal choice for smoothing. Long lasting due to slower reversion.
Three levels of treatment with one formula. Fast and easy. May be shampooed in 48 hours. Guest may swim in
ocean or pools.
8. As I applied the Smoothing Cream I noticed discoloration, but as I completed the treatment the color re‐established
itself and was even richer than before the treatment. What happened?
‐ Most often the guest’s hair color was not completely ‘attached’ in some areas due to free radicals remaining in the hair following
their previous color application. During the Smooth & Healthy treatment the Surface Color Vita Complex helps to reduce these free
radicals and lock in the color. After all colors apply Bassu Oil liberally to the hair, to reduce free radicals and ‘Peroxidization’. Your
colors will be richer and longer lasting.
9. How Does Smooth & Healthy Work?
1. Protein Cream ‐ Strengthens & Smooths Hair
2. Smoothing Cream ‐ Amino Acid Complex Softens Hair & Bonds Protein/Oil
3. Locking Lotion ‐ Locks Protein/Oil To Hair
Delivery System (‘Driver’) Provides Penetration & Delivery of Active Ingredients
‐ Sugars, acids and fatty alcohols derived from plants, fruits and vegetables, with mineral derivatives and water work as the ‘delivery
system’ for the amino acid and protein/oil complex.
Active Ingredients Produces Desired Result
‐ Amaranth/Babassu bonds to provide strength & smoothing. Cysteamine amino acid complex derived from cysteine protein softens
hair and allows for Amaranth/Babassu complex to attach. Cysteine is the principle factor in the structural protein of hair. The softer
the hair is allowed to become the smoother it can be locked. Heat of blow drying and pressing provides additional smoothing to the
hair’s structure prior to locking. Hydrogen Peroxide provides oxidization to lock Amaranth/Babassu complex.
10. Hot Tips:
1. Apply with good speed. If it seems to be taking you a long time in application you may spray areas you feel have softened
enough with water and Protein Cream.
2. Comb last time up as well as lift hair from scalp. This provides natural movement and insures healthy structure. It is not
natural for protein to bend at a 90 degree angle flat to the head. Protein at a 90 degree angle could result in separation and
damage. Do not allow hair to lay flat to scalp.
3. Set a timer and rinse 7 to 9 minutes with as hot of water as comfortable to the guest. Protein naturally has an unpleasant
odour and while the protein in Smooth & Healthy has a mild aroma, the hot water is necessary to insure thorough rinsing.Tired of the frizz ? Do you want less curl ? Call Reflections of You Fairfax today 703.591.5306 roysalon.com
4. Be sure that the hair that does not yet have Smoothing Lotion applied has consistent level of moisture prior to application.
You may need to mist this hair with water prior to application.
5. Guest MUST use Trinity Protein Cream and Surface Shampoo, Conditioner and Styling Products. At home the Protein Cream
is used as a leave in conditioner and may also be used dry as a thermal protector prior to press styling. Protein Cream
replaces the Amaranth/ Babassu complex that is worn away through daily environmental damage.
